Reading today's news wires has left me with both feelings of contempt for the scourge of society that wishes to cause pain and feelings of over welming love for those of us human kind that continue to defy all odds and spit in the face of evil.

Now, for something completely absurd. I can't begin to describe what went down in British Columbia today, so I will just repost the story as Reuters news service reported.
LANGLEY, British Columbia (Reuters) - Three people have been arrested after police raided a sophisticated tunnel intended to smuggle drugs under the U.S.-Canada border between Vancouver and Seattle, investigators said on Thursday.
The smugglers spent more than a year building the 360-foot (110-meter) tunnel that ran from a Quonset hut-style storage building in the rural Aldergrove neighborhood of Langley, British Columbia, to the living room of a home in Lynden, Washington, U.S. and Canadian investigators said.
"It was well built, probably one of the most sophisticated tunnels we've ever seen," said Rod Benson, an agent with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. "There was a significant drug trafficking organization that was responsible for the construction."
Video supplied by investigators showed that the inside of the tunnel was lined with wood supports and concrete reinforced with steel. The builders had installed a small cart to allow them to move freight or people from one end to the other.
Investigators said it was the first time a drug smuggling tunnel had been found on the U.S.-Canada border, although more than 30 such tunnels have been uncovered on the border between Mexico and the United States.
Large quantities of potent "B.C. Bud" are smuggled to the United States each year from British Columbia, where illegal marijuana growing has been estimated to be a more than C$2 billion-a-year industry ($1.7 billion).
Investigators said that while they believe it had only been used briefly to smuggle marijuana to the United States, the tunnel was also likely intended to smuggle illegal immigrants into the United States and cocaine and guns into Canada.
Police raided the tunnel on Wednesday, arresting three men from Surrey, British Columbia. They also seized 93 pounds of marijuana that had been loaded into a vehicle and was being driven across Washington state.
Francis Devandra Raj, 30, Timothy Woo, 34, and Jonathan Valenzuela, 27, have been charged with drug smuggling and are being held in the United States. Investigators said the three men are well known to police in Canada.
Raj owned the property at the tunnels Canadian entrance. The owner of the property on the U.S. side has not been arrested, but police said they are still investigating.
DIGGING WORK HIDDEN
Neighbors said the builders did a good job hiding their activities. "I'm kind of a nosy person... and I never seen any activity to speak of," said Mike Hamm, who lived not far from Raj's property.
There were unconfirmed reports that an audio tape of automobile repairs was used to mask the digging work inside the hut.
Canadian border officials were tipped off that something was being built in late 2003, and later received reports of wood being delivered to the Aldergrove property and debris being taken away.
U.S. investigators had secretly entered the Lyndon house on July 2, and installed monitoring equipment. A reporter said it appeared the builders had constructed a substantial storage space under the house.
The international boundary in the area of the tunnel is marked by a small ditch that runs between parallel Canadian and U.S. roads. American officials monitor the area with remote-controlled cameras.
This just blew me away, what did the neibours think was happening on this property? I wonder if these guys were planning to put in a Tim Hortons on the Canadian end, a Starbucks on the US side, maybe a bed and breakfast. Hey just looking out for those illegal immigrant pot smugglers.

Can't sleep, so what the hell I said I would post some excerpts from my screenplays so here is my first. This is from something I wrote about three years ago called Black Crystal.
This epic follows the struggles of Dallas Black in his attempt to suppress the daemons that have plagued him since his internment in a prisoner of war camp by the new regime known as Horseman. The world is full of strife and chaos and it's future is in the hands of the Black Family.
Dallas, in his early twenties struggles to find his corner of the world that he can say is his.
EXT. POPS DELIVERS THE EULOGY - NIGHT
Pops lights a torch and steps towards the alter
POPS
Transcend my beloved and leave your human bonds.May your trip up the stairway to the heavens be as graceful as you were in life. And now great spirit, lift this finest of your creations onto your back and whisk her too her rightful place realm of white lights.
Pops tilts his torch and sets the alter on fire

Life doesn't just end when you die, your life force is eternal as the Phoenix.Like the great indistinguishable bird born of fire, so too will the spirit of Mom live on in the souls of her charges.

Well, this my first venture into the world of blogdom, so bare with me. Let me start my first entry with something about me and what the purpose of this blog will be about.
Firstly, my name is Kendall, I currently reside in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. I've been doing background extra work in films since April of 2000. My first experience as part of Hollywood north's' some ten thousand pieces of 'moving wallpaper' was as a basketball game fan in the Sean Connery film, Finding Forester.

Well let me tell you after twelve hours of watching guys with maybe YMCA summer camp skills throw brick after brick, it gets tough too keep up the 'acting'.
Anyway, my claim to fame that day was actually running into Sir Sean Connery, literally. The extras where instructed to walk down the left side of a very narrow corridor and hug the wall. Long story short I drifted a couple inches off the wall just as the fore mentioned Knight of Wales was making his descent down the corridor upstream from us. We bumped shoulders, he showed how much a true gentleman he is, said nothing, turned and we did it again. This time I kept over.
That was five years ago, since then I've logged more than 48,000km up and down the highway to Toronto, all most four hundred days on some one hundred thirty different feature films, television serials, MOW's and failed pilots.
In that time I've met some great people and some you would not want to meet in a dark alley.
To sum up this entry extra work is a great adventure, every set is different. One day you could be in a small studio with only a handful of other extras watching Catherine Zeta Jones (Chicago) wearing a small dress singing her guts out, the next day you can be stuck in an old grain silo in Oshawa, in the middle of winter wearing a Nazi Germany outfit(Death to Smoochy).
In the days to come I'll post regular updates about the film sets I'm on and share more what I hope are interesting stories from sets I've done.
In other news, by now you might be wondering what on earth the title of this blog means, well the eternal kenaz is a persona I created when I created my online radio station at www.live365.com. Kenaz is an easy going guy who just enjoys Old Time Radio programs and music from the Golden Age of radio. On Kenaz's Old time Radio you can hear more than seven hours of looped pre-programmed radio dramas, comedies and variety shows from the 1930's to the 1950's. Along with Fathers Knows Best and Dimension X you can listen to the golden vocals of Ella and Frank. I update every two to four days, depending on my schedule so tune in regularilly.

This is from ESPN's short series Tilt, shot on a beautiful sounstage in Toronto. The casino set cost a million bucks to create, and worth every penny. After they shot the final ninth episode, I heard they tore down the set and placed it in storage. Unfortunately the series won't be back, appently Michael Madson wasn't comfortable with the confines of a tv serial. Too bad it made a slow, cold winter a lot better.
