On the eve of the fifth anniversary of September 11, the day we witnessed the most horrific show of callousness man is capable of; I hope we can all reach deep inside us and conquer our shallow demons of hate and pull forth the forgiveness that makes up our true selves.
Today I offer examples in prose and pictures of the necessity to not feel hate, which casts our minds into darkness and shuns the light of all reason. Reason is what will lead us to the answers we seek.
If the U.S and the rest of the world ever hope to co-exist in harmony, we all need to stop chasing blindly after those who wish to cause harm.
The following are two excerpts from "War and Peace"
You should have seen the state of the mothers, wives, and children of the men who were going and should have heard the sobs. It seems as though mankind has forgotten the laws of its divine savior, Who preached love and forgiveness of injuries- and that men attribute the greatest merit to skill in killing one another.-Leo Tolstoy,War and Peace Chapter XXV
We all profess the Christian law of forgiveness of injuries and love of our neighbors, the law in honor of which we have built in (Moscow) forty times forty churches- but yesterday a deserter was knouted to death and a minister of that same law of love and forgiveness, a priest, gave the soldier a cross to kiss before his execution.-Leo Tolstoy,War and Peace Chapter I
The second is a photo gallery detailing the history of the twin towers right through the after math of September 11, 2001 and onto the healing process. I found a couple of children's drawings that couldn't have been more appropriate to ring home my point of forgiveness.
Later,
Kenaz
