Sgt. Jason Boyes was a "Committed Warrior"


















"He was a committed warrior, a leader through and through," said Lt.-Col. Dave Corbould, commander of the battle group. "He was someone we can all emulate. He represented the warrior spirit, 100%."

I found this fitting song composed by MacPhee, Schram, Howe in my files simply entitled "Ode To The Canadian Soldier "and uploaded to imeem. Please give a listen. The lyrics pay tribute to the men and women who are "Fighting for freedom and staying the course.

Sgt. Jason Boyes, the 81st Canadian soldier to die in Afghanistan, was remembered Monday as a committed warrior and a respected and admired leader. The 32-year-old native of Napanee, Ont., died Sunday evening while on a joint Afghan-Canadian foot patrol in the Panjwaii district of Kandahar province, 35 kilometres southwest of the provincial capital. He was only a few weeks into a six-month tour of duty in Afghanistan with the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, based in Shilo, Man. Sgt. Boyes, died when he walked over a buried explosive device during a foot patrol after nightfall.
