Lieutenant Justin Garrett Boyes was killed by an improvised explosive device just 10 days into his second tour in Afghanistan. Two others were injured in the blast near Kandahar. Boyes, 26, was remembered as an 'easy-going Prairie boy.' Sapper Steven Marshall, of 11 Field Squadron 1 Combat Engineer Regiment based in Edmonton, Alta., was killed Friday afternoon when his patrol was struck by an IED in Panjwaii district, southwest of Kandahar city. Marshall, 24, had been in Afghanistan for less than a week when he died. He is the second Canadian soldier to be killed this week after Lt. Justin Boyes of was struck by an IED on Wednesday.
